  • March 15 Workshop on Transitions in Family Business

    The future of family businesses often rests with the next generation as current leaders phase out of the daily grind. On March 15, Ron Stein, vice president of business development for PTS Staffing Solutions, will moderate a panel discussion on "The Secrets of Transitioning and Transferring the Tools for Success to the Next Generation." The Family Business Council program is sponsored by Cal State Fullerton's Mihaylo College of Business and Economics.

  • Forum on How to Boost Number of African American College Graduates

    Cal State Fullerton's African American Resource Center is sponsoring a community dialogue to discuss how to increase the number of African American college graduates. The forum is free and open to the public.

  • Recognizing Faculty Authors

    Cal State Fullerton, in a celebration of accomplishment, honored faculty authors during a Wednesday, Feb. 23, luncheon in Portola Pavilion A of the Titan Student Union. The annual event recognized faculty members for textbooks, works of fiction, poetry, art and anthologies, as well as edited books published in 2010 and 2011.

    In honor of the 10th anniversary of the Mildred Donoghue Children's Literature Center, Cal State Fullerton's Pollak Library presents a March 7 lecture by children's book author and illustrator Deborah Nourse Lattimore.

    The new $8.7 million Children's Center is open and serving the pre-school children of students, faculty and staff with eight master teachers, a cook, 60 teacher aides and 25 student interns. Funded with student fees, the center is a program of Associated Students Inc.

  • Fossils Curated by CSUF at Fullerton Museum Center

    An 11,000-year-old Columbian mammoth tusk, the skull of an ancient whale and a 10- to 15-million-year-old fur seal skeleton are a few of Orange County's artifacts on display through May 8 at the Fullerton Museum Center. The pieces, part of the center's "Before Fullerton: The Prehistory of North Orange County" exhibit, are examples of the county's fossils that Cal State Fullerton has been curating and preserving as part of its Cooper Center project.

  • Business Students Offer Tax Assistance

    Cal State Fullerton students are offering income tax return preparation and filing assistance. More than 100 students and alumni -- all certified -- take part in Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, an IRS-sponsored community program that helps low-income families and individuals prepare federal and state returns.

    While it will likely be many months before Jared Lee Loughner, charged with the January 8, 2011 Tucson, Arizona shooting that killed six people, and left 14 others injured, including U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords, media coverage continues. Last week, on January 24, Minnesota Public Radio's (MPR) Kerri Miller, a veteran newspaper and radio reporter and host of Midmorning interviewed Cal State Fullerton's own Jon Bruschke, on the impact of pre-trial media coverage and publicity on jury trial outcomes. His interview can be heard about 3/4s of the way through the second hour of the show podcast (at 44 minutes, 30 seconds into the segment for that day which is available for listening at Minnesota Public Radio's podcast archive.

  • Certificate Program Graduate Volunteers in Gulf of Mexico

    Cuong Lien put his interpreting skills, learned through Cal State Fullerton's University Extended Education, on the front lines last summer, just three weeks after the massive April 20 British Petroleum oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Lien was one of the first to sign up for Extended Ed's Legal Interpretation and Translation Program.
