Steven Jobbitt, Cal State Fullerton assistant professor of history, will present the first in a series of free lectures featuring CSUF faculty members speaking on a variety of topical issues. The university and Fullerton Public Library are co-sponsoring the 2011 Town and Gown International Lecture Series.

Jobitt will discuss the challenges of Portugal and Hungary in their quest to integrate culturally, politically and economically into what has become an increasingly open and “globalized” European community.

Jobbitt teaches history courses on fascism, genocide and ethnic cleansing, environmental history and 20th-century Europe. He earned his doctorate in history from the University of Toronto and speaks Hungarian, Portuguese, German, French, Finnish and Latin, as well as English. His present research focuses on the politics and culture of right-wing extremism in Portugal and Hungary.
