‘Eyewitness to War’ Speaker Series Features Alumna

Author and Cal State Fullerton alumna Margot E. Palmgren will talk about her experiences during World War II in Germany as part of Cal State Fullerton’s “Eyewitness to War” lecture series. Cora A. Granata, associate professor of history, European studies program coordinator and associate director of the university’s Center for Oral and Public History, will introduce Palmgren at the free lecture, which is open to the public.
Who:
“Me, laundry girl.” Those were the first words Margot E. Palmgren learned in English. The year was 1945 and Palmgren was a girl doing laundry for American soldiers in Germany. She spent her childhood witnessing the horrors of Kristallnacht (a series of attacks against Jews) and anti-Semitism. She immigrated to the United States as a war bride. In 1954, she settled in Anaheim and in 1981 earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration-marketing from Cal State Fullerton. She is the author of four books, including her memoir, “Anneliese: Child of War.”
