Professors and Lecturers Lead Afro-ethnic Studies Courses
The university's Afro-Ethnic Studies Department offers a number of courses to help students apply principals and methodologies in an effort to better understand the importance of cultural viewpoints. The program uses a multidisciplinary approach to understanding the black experience.
The department's mission is to "inspire civic responsibility and social justice through the experiences of people of African descent," said Julie E. Stokes, professor and chair of Afro-ethnic studies.

Stan L. Breckenridge is a full-time lecturer in the department, which also has four part-time lecturers — Ernest Bridges, Tami Foy, Michael O'Neal and Charlene Riggins.
