  • Future Science Teacher Named Federal Student Ambassador

    Future high school science teacher Kristy Mar spent last summer getting an insider's look at what it's like to work for the federal government in Washington, D.C. As a result of her internship service at the Office of Inspector General, U.S. Department for Health and Human Services, the Cal State Fullerton student was selected to serve as a Federal Service Student Ambassador for the 2010-11 academic year.

  • Comedy Show Fundraiser for American Heart Association

    Cal State Fullerton's Entertainment and Tourism Club is presenting "Cultural Comedy Chaos," featuring comedians of different ethnic backgrounds. The public is invited to the Feb. 4 event; proceeds will benefit the American Heart Association.

  • Fullerton Among CSU Campuses OK's for Nursing Doctorate Pilot Program

    Cal State Fullerton's School of Nursing is planning a doctor of nursing practice (D.N.P.) pilot program that could launch as early as fall 2012. The California State University Board of Trustees Wednesday approved the planning of three such pilot programs. One will be offered jointly by the Fullerton, Long Beach and Los Angeles campuses; another will be offered jointly by Fresno and San Jose; and the third by San Diego State University.

  • Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Spring Lecture Series

    A variety of topics, including those addressing transitions in retirement, predictions about volcanic eruptions, and healthcare reform, will be discussed during the spring lecture series offered by Cal State Fullerton's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI). All lectures are free and open to the public.

  • School of Nursing Planning Launch of Doctorate

    Cal State Fullerton is planning one of three California State University doctor of nursing practice (DNP) pilot programs that could launch as early as fall 2012.   • Native American Basket Class Offered at Arboretum

    Campus and community members interested in learning more about Native American culture are invited to take part in a Saturday, Feb. 12, basket workshop led by artist and master weaver Abe Sanchez. The 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. program is co-sponsored by the Fullerton Arboretum and the Department of Anthropology as part of the Arboretum's California Indian Plant Uses Program.

  • Gustavo Lecture Series Features Latino Artists, Authors

    Cal State Fullerton's Chicana and Chicano Studies Department presents "Gustavo's Awesome Lecture Series!" Jan. 27-June 23 at the Fullerton Public Library. Gustavo Arellano, lecturer of Chicana and Chicano studies, created the series and will, as part of the program, conduct interviews of Mexican American authors and artists who have contributed to Orange County's Latino history.

    Cal State Fullerton students begin their first classes of the spring semester Saturday, Jan. 22. Awaiting them are new facilities and festivities to help ring in the new year, also marked by personnel changes. Among them: a new location for the CSUF Irvine Campus, new communication dean, acting vice president for student affairs, new dean of students and a soon-to-open new Children's Center.
