Thousands of students took part in commencement ceremonies, cheered on by their families and friends.

Offering advice were university administrators and keynote speakers Tommy Lasorda, former Dodgers manager, and Regina E. Dugan, director of the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency.

Said Lasorda: “You can be anything you want to be in this country. But, you have to earn it. The only way you can earn it is through self confidence, pride, dignity and character.”

Dugan added: “You cannot be afraid of failing if you want to succeed. You cannot lose your nerve for the big failure because the nerve you need for the big failure is exactly the same nerve you need for the big success. It’s the exact same nerve.”

And, CSUF President Milton A. Gordon told this year’s graduates: “Your work and career are going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. Follow your dream and make them a reality!”  READ MORE
