Vietnam

Ichose to attend Cal State Fullerton because of its reputation in the community. My expectation was to get practical training that I could apply in my family business.

But my experiences went beyond that, as I was able to take classes and apply the lessons the next day. As a graduate student, I collaborated on projects with students from Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.

When we founded VAMBA, it was the first U.S. university alumni chapter in Vietnam. Our members in Vietnam meet delegations from Congress and visitors from Washington, D.C. We are seen as a young entrepreneur group.

CSUF has given me opportunities I wouldn’t have thought I’d have as a young alumnus. The diploma in my office becomes more valuable each day.

Dr. Tam Nguyen’05 (M.B.A.) is president and owner of Advance Beauty College in Garden Grove. Nguyen is a vice president of the CSUF Alumni Association, and founder and past president of the Vietnamese M.B.A. Alumni Association (VAMBA), which hosts Cal State Fullerton events and networking in both the U.S. and Vietnam.
