Germany

Germany offered a great deal of opportunity for studying
environmental thought and German writers as well as a
wealth of breathtaking retreats where I could experience nature more intimately. I wanted to explore why Germany is so well
known for its environmental policy and how it functions in hopes that I can be part of the solution that the world is currently
seeking.

I decided to teach here with the anticipation that I could both broaden my understanding of America in a global context while also learning what assumptions students abroad have of American culture.

My daily habits have changed as my environmental consciousness has been heightened. I have adopted many German routines, such as the emphasis on strict recycling at home, bike riding rather than driving, and feel I consume a lot less than before. I have also learned to look at my assumptions and way of life with a more objective point of view, and have come to embrace both cultures with an open mind.
