Students' self-confidence is greatest gift

I am teaching Art 101 to Cal State Fullerton freshman students and looking forward to joining the Freshman Program in the future. I am so excited and encouraged by my studentsí growth in such a short period of time. It is so rewarding to see them grow, not only in subject matter knowledge, but in their ability to think creatively and articulate their thoughts. It meant so much to me to hear my students speak of their first visit to an art museum, that they had probably dreaded, and to return really excited about what they had seen. My greatest reward is to see them gain self-confidence. I know self-confidence will help them in all their life experiences. I am so grateful for the teachers in my past, who encouraged and uplifted me, that I want to pass that great gift on to others.
