ONE MENTORS future graduate students, another analyzes and finds solutions for technological problems, and the third tends to the technical needs of departments in the College of Engineering and Computer Science. The trio are this year’s recipients of the Outstanding Staff Award, the highest university honor bestowed on staff members. They are:
- Gerald Bryant, director of the McNair Scholars Program;
- Thao Nguyen, information technology consultant in the Mechanical and Civil and Environmental Departments; and
- Mony Nhong, analyst and programmer in the Information Technology Division.
Bryant, Nguyen and Nhong were selected from this year’s 34 Titan Excellence Award winners. That award honors staffers throughout the year for their “superior leadership, creativity, initiative, teamwork, promotion of the university’s image and contributions to their work area and the university.”
At a recent ceremony honoring the Titan Excellence Awardees, President Mildred García thanked them for “going above and beyond the call of duty.”
She said she was honored to stand before them and called them “all winners.”
“You’re winners because you chose Cal State Fullerton and you’re winners because you've dedicated your lives to helping students reach their goals, so I congratulate all of you, especially Titan Excellence Award winners,” García said. “I'm humbled to be in your presence. Thank you for doing all you do.”
