Imagine taking classes without worrying about term papers or homework. How about taking a trip to the Getty Villa or bike riding with friends?

Members of OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute) have all these options to consider. The institute is geared toward the retired and semi-retired, offering a wide range of academic programs, field trips and social events. There are more than 700 OLLI members.

“OLLI-CSUF provides an excellent opportunity to enjoy intellectual stimulation and develop a sense of community,” said Melody Johnston, associate dean of university extended education. “OLLI members have the desire to continue learning and contribute to their communities. In fact, many OLLI members contribute their time and talent to the organization and also volunteer in a number of support groups on campus and in the community at large.”

OLLI’s offerings this semester feature classes and discussions on topics such as “Looking at the Political Scene,” “American Presidency” and “The Ocean Around Us.”

“We are able to offer the OLLI program at such a low cost because of the volunteer efforts of the members and because all speakers donate their time, whether they’re OLLI members, Cal State Fullerton faculty, or experts from the community,” said Patsy Burns, manager of OLLI.

OLLI memberships cost $215 per year, or $110 for the fall or spring semesters and $60 for summer. Membership benefits include access to all class offerings.
