Preparing Journalists of Today and Tomorrow
Annual "Write-Off" hosted by the CSUF College of Communications
March 1, 2007
By Valerie Orleans
Each year, the College of Communications serves as host and co-sponsor of a two-day “write-off” for more than 450 community college students and their advisers. The event, co-sponsored with the Journalism Association of Community Colleges, offers would-be journalists the chance to attend special workshops and panels as well as compete in various writing competitions.
For the past five years, the College also has co-sponsored the National Writers’ Workshop, where working journalists and writers from the southern region of the United States are able to attend workshops and presentations by journalists, public relations practitioners and writers. This year’s event is scheduled for May 5.
In addition, the College has served as co-sponsor and host to the First Amendment Assembly along with the California First Amendment Coalition.
