CSUF Debaters Coach High School Students

Giving younger students the opportunity to learn debating skills

March 1, 2007

Since 1997, members of Cal State Fullerton’s award-winning debate team have been coaching high school students from Santa Ana, Fullerton, La Quinta and Los Amigos high schools and other area high schools.

Through a program known as SCUDL (Southern California Urban Debate League), college-level debaters (and their coaches) reach out to high school students to train them in the art of debate. Many of these students would not have the chance to learn debating skills without this program. Scores of students actively participate in classes, after-school meetings and weekend competitions.

The SCUDL program helps young people become involved in discussions that deal with significant issues facing the nation and the world.
