Memorial Set for Wiseman
February 9th service scheduled to honor Richard Wiseman

A memorial service will be held Friday, Feb. 9, for Richard Wiseman, professor of human communications studies and 2003-04 Outstanding Professor Award recipient, who died in November.
The 3 p.m.
service will be held on campus in the Titan Student Union.
In addition
to the university’s top faculty honor, Wiseman also received the
2005 California State University Wang Family Excellence Award, which
recognizes outstanding achievements of faculty members and administrators
in the 23-campus CSU. During his career, Wiseman received numerous honors,
authored nine books, was awarded more than 25 grants for his research
efforts and was a founding fellow for the International Academy for Intercultural
Research.
Among those
who will speak at the memorial service are University President Milton
A. Gordon; Ephraim Smith, vice president of academic affairs; Rick Pullen, dean
of the College of Communications; Kurt Kitselman, chair and professor of the human communication
studies; Irene Matz, assistant professor of human communications, and Judi Sanders,
Wiseman’s wife. Several of Wiseman’s former students will remember
the educator and Bob Gass, professor of human communication studies,
will serve as master of ceremonies.

in Wiseman’s honor may be made to the CSUF Philanthropic Foundation,
Richard Wiseman Memorial Scholarship Fund. They may be sent to Annette
