Strong Backs Needed on December 8

Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary is asking for volunteers

December 3, 2007

Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary is asking for volunteers to help protect and clean up the sanctuary following the recent winds, fires and heavy rains. If weather permits, two shifts are scheduled for 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8.

Volunteers should wear long sleeves, long pants, sturdy shoes and work gloves, said Karon Cornell, sanctuary director. Those who have scoop shovels are asked to bring them, but make sure there is identification so they won’t be misappropriated.

Participants are asked to come to the staging area, a large dirt lot on the right side at the entrance of Modjeska Canyon Road off Santiago Canyon Road. The lot will have rolling dumpsters and stacks of hay bales, Cornell added.

Parking in the canyon is at a premium, so those who can carpool should do so. Water and snacks will be available to volunteers, and some lunches may be provided.

The sanctuary is located at 29322 Modjeska Canyon Rd., Modjeska Canyon. For more information, contact Cornell at kcornell@fullerton.edu.
