A group of 35 vice deans and directors from Sun Yat-sen University visited campus Aug. 2 to learn about collaboration practices between CSUF’s student and academic affairs to enhance student learning. The group attended two lectures in the Titan Student Union before heading to UCLA, the university hosting their visit, said Howard Wang, associate vice president for student affairs.

president of Sun Yat-sen University, and Jane Permaul, UCLA’s
emerita assistant vice chancellor of student affairs, during a
visit to campus this month.
Four years ago, Wang and Jane Permaul, UCLA emerita assistant vice chancellor of student affairs, visited Zhongshan University, where she provided training to student affairs directors and their staff. Through that connection, Wang said, “Dr. Permaul invited the Sun Yat-sen group to visit Cal State Fullerton because she’s aware of our great collaboration between student and academic affairs in many of our programs, such as Freshman Programs, the University 100 class, Freshman Orientation and, especially, the assistant deans of the colleges, who report both to Kandy Mink Salas, the dean of students, and to each of their respective college deans.”
