Free Public Workshop Saturday on Alternative Medical Treatments

WHAT:
Cal State Fullerton's Health Promotion Research Institute hosts an “Alternative Choices for a Healthy Life” workshop to increase awareness of such treatments as acupuncture, chiropractic, massage, yoga, ayurveda medicine, biofeedback and aromatherapy.
WHEN:
8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 13
WHERE:
Room 199 of the Kinesiology and Health Science Building Cal State Fullerton, 800 N. State College Blvd., Fullerton, 92834
WHY:
“The purpose of the workshop is to increase awareness of how complementary and alternative modalities are used to treat medical conditions and to promote health, and provide education and career path information about these alternatives,” said Jie Weiss, assistant professor of health science and an event organizer.
SCHEDULE:
9:15 – 9:55 a.m. Colleen Kvaska, CSUF lecturer in health science, will speak on nutritional therapy.
9:55 – 10:35 a.m. Wen-Shuo Wu, a medical doctor, will speak on Chinese medicine, specifically acupuncture and herbal therapies.
10:35 – 11:10 a.m. Tai Chi demonstration by Shin Lin, UC Irvine professor of cell biology and biomedical engineering.
11:10 – 11:50 a.m. Gena Kadar, a licensed doctor of chiropractic and assistant professor of diagnosis at Southern California University of Health Sciences’ Los Angeles College of Chiropractic, will speak on chiropractic services.
