Reel World
Film Series Goal is to Promote Discussion of Women and Men
February 10, 2009
The Women's Center kicks off its spring film series “Real Women, Reel World” Feb. 17 with “The Prizewinner of Definance, Ohio,” a 2005 film based on the novel of Terry Ryan and featuring Julianne Moore, Woody Harrelson and Laura Dern.
It is just one of several movies, including the Women's Center-created film “Step Up and Stop It,” and Media Education Foundation presentation “Spin the Bottle; Sex, Lies & Alcohol” selected to show how women — and men — are depicted in a variety of roles and to kick off discussions involving culture, history, personal struggles and relationships.
The shows will be aired at 5 p.m. on Tuesdays in Room 205 of University Hall. Free popcorn will be served.
Also slated for the semester are:
Feb. 24 — “Angels in the Dust”
