Requirements for Completing Student Leadership Institute

Requirements of Cal State Fullerton’s Student Leadership Institute include completing three core workshops and one of the eight certificate “tracks” during the two-semester program.
This fall, the following tracks, including one new one, will be offered:
- Career Leadership, a collaboration with the Career Center to help students develop skills for the professional world;
- EMBRACE (Educating Myself For Better Racial Awareness and Cultural Enrichment), a collaboration with the Multicultural Leadership Center, provides training as it relates to cultural sensitivity, diversity and multicultural understanding;
- Emerging Leaders, which offers students with little or no leadership skills the chance to develop leadership qualities;
- Global Leadership, new this fall, developed in collaboration with International Education & Exchange, focuses on global awareness and responsibility.
- Leadership through Social Justice Activism, a collaboration with the Volunteer & Service Center, gives students the tools to become effective change agents in their community;
- Organizational Leadership, which prepares active student leaders with advanced skills for leading, motivating and managing others;
- Peer Tutoring, a collaboration with the University Learning Center, gives participants the chance hone tutoring skills;
- Public Service and Nonprofit Leadership, which teaches skills needed to pursue public service or nonprofit careers.
As a result of their participation in the program, students get involved in a variety of activities, such as:
- ASI, Inc. student government, including positions as president, board of directors members and Titan Student Union Governing Board executive leadership posts
- Interclub councils, clubs and organizations, including serving as presidents, board members and other leadership positions
- Peer mentors and tutors
- Volunteer & Service Center volunteers
- University Outreach, including serving as outreach ambassadors and tutors
- Residence life leaders
- University Leadership Conference planners and volunteers
