Cal State Fullerton Army ROTC Program Promotes Graduating Cadets

Thirteen Army ROTC cadets have been commissioned as second lieutenants and are on their way to military bases throughout the nation to continue their officer training in preparation for deployment to Afghanistan or elsewhere.
The new officers, who are part of the Cal State Fullerton's ROTC battalion, attended CSUF or other nearby universities. In order to receive their commission, they also must graduate. Those who attended CSUF, their hometowns, degrees and military branches, are:
- Richard S. Clark, Santa Monica, B.A. criminal justice, National Guard infantry
- Patrick J. Garcia, Whittier, B.A. public administration, National Guard aviation
- Cameron K. Larsuel, Alhambra, B.A. political science, National Guard infantry
- Antonio P. Limcaco, Fullerton, B.A. business administration, National Guard finance
- John J. Pak, Buena Park, B.A. criminal justice, active Army aviation
- Hao V. Vong, San Marino, M.S. software engineering, National Guard field artillery
Those from Biola University are:
- Tyler J. Brown, Forth Klamath, Ore., B.A. international studies, National Guard signal corp.
- Caleb D. Campbell, Monrovia, B.A. philosophy, National Guard infantry
- Nicholas S. Conner, Marshfield, Wis., B.S. sociology, National Guard quartermaster
From Chapman University:
- Jeffrey G. Griswold, Yorba Linda, B.A. political science, active Army military intelligence. Griswold received the ROTC's Omar Bradley Superior Cadet Award for being ranked the No. 1 soldier in the CSUF battalion. The award is given to the cadet with the highest academic standing, best physical fitness and outstanding community service. In addition, he recently won the national George C. Marshall ROTC Award.
From UC Irvine:
- Vietlong T. Nguyen, Yorba Linda, B.A. political science, Active Army judge advocate
From Vanguard University:
- Alexandra L. Navarre, Costa Mesa, B.A. psychology, Army Reserve medical services
From Whittier College:
- Sean T. Summerall, San Clemente, B.A. political science, National Guard aviation
The univerity's ROTC battalion continues to grow since it was activated in 1983, said Lt. Col. Jonathan Nepute, coordinator of CSUF's military science program.
There were 25 cadets in 1983, 110 last fall and 137 today, he said, adding that he expects at least 160 cadets by September. For more information about the program, visit the Cal State Fullerton Army ROTC program website.
