Student Invited to Turkey to Speak
on Human Rights

print

September 26, 2003 :: No. 51b

Ontario resident Harold Morales, a senior philosophy major at Cal State Fullerton, traveled last month to Istanbul as part of the inaugural student session at the 21st World Congress of Philosophy.

Morales had submitted a paper on human rights, and his entry was one of 14 selected from students around the world. The honor earned him an expense-paid trip to the August gathering and an invitation to present his paper, “Human Rights.”

In addition to speaking at the conference, Morales attended various presentations of philosophers representing 85 countries. “The experience has given me a more defined sense of direction in my life,” said Morales. “It has encouraged me to academically pursue the subject of human rights in graduate school.”
