Detainees in Reeducation Camp

Over 200,000 people, including male and female officers and high ranking officials were detained and transferred in several camps over 20 years. To mark the prisoners and discourage escape, their clothes were stamped with TCT (abbreviations for Tu Cai Tao, detainees reeducation). Even so, detainees hopeless of ever being released tried to escape. Some were caught and jailed in a conex (a military shipping container), which was very hot during the day and very cold at night, while others were executed.
