Lincoln Scholar Delivers Talk April 20

Biographer on 16th President Presents Rietveld Lecture

Ronald C. White Jr., author of the award-winning book “A. Lincoln: A Biography,” will present “Abraham Lincoln’s Diary” at Cal State Fullerton’s third annual Rietveld Lecture April 20. The talk is free and open to the public.

Who:     

Ronald C. White Jr.'s 2009 book, “A. Lincoln: A Biography,” won a Christopher Award, which salutes books “that affirm the highest values of the human spirit.” It also was honored as a best book by the Washington Post, Christian Science Monitor, St. Louis Post-Dispatch and others. White’s other books include “Lincoln’s Greatest Speech: The Second Inaugural,” a New York Times “Notable Book,” and “The Eloquent President: A Portrait of Lincoln Through His Words.” Now writing a book on Ulysses S. Grant, White is a fellow at the Huntington Library and a visiting professor of history at UCLA.

Background:     

The Rietveld Lecture was established in 2009 to honor Lincoln scholar Ronald D. Rietveld for his service as a Cal State Fullerton history professor for more than 40 years. The event hosts a talk by prominent Lincoln scholars annually.
