CSUF Hosts Carnaval Brasil Feb. 21

What: In an effort to boost interest in studying and research in Brazil, Cal State Fullerton's Latin American Studies Program and Amigos Do Brasil are hosting Carnaval Brasil on Fat Tuesday, Feb. 21. The event, featuring Samba dancers, Capoeira (a mix of Afro-Brazilian-style dancing and martial arts) and Latin American foods, is free and open to the public.

When: Feb. 21, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Where: Plaza in front of the Humanities-Social Sciences Building
Cal State Fullerton, 800 N. State College Blvd., Fullerton 92831

Why: “We're trying to expose our campus and community to Brazil through this cultural event,” said Sandra M. Perez-Linggi, associate professor of modern languages and literatures. “We want students to get excited about going to study in Brazil, as we are planning on offering a study-abroad program there in the summer of 2013.”

Additional: The Modern Languages and Literatures Department will distribute information about its minor in Portuguese and related classes.

Parking: $2 per hour or $8 for a daily permit. Details are available online.
