ANNUAL REPORT OF GIVING & DONOR HONOR ROLL 2009-10

High achievers in business, Ron and June Stein founded Principal Technical Services (PTS) in 1995. As the engineering and professional staffing business grew, their sons Russell ’92 (B.A. business administration-finance) and David joined the company. In 2009, the business was recognized as one of the top 100 fastest-growing companies in Orange County.

The Stein family is also high achieving when it comes to supporting public higher education. PTS is a contributing member and sponsor of two centers of excellence at Mihaylo College of Business and Economics: the Family Business Council and the Center for Entrepreneurship.

To support the Family Business Council, PTS made a significant gift to help establish the Rick Muth Chair in Family Business. In addition, PTS is a supporter of the new Mihaylo Hall. In fact, one of the 50-seat lecture halls is named the Stein Family Lecture Hall. Ron also serves on the advisory boards for both the Family Business Council and the Center for Entrepreneurship.

“It’s payback time,” said Ron. “The leaders of tomorrow are those coming out of school today. There are about 1.7 million family businesses in California and about 130,000 in Orange County. We need to make sure we have leaders who support small business and the creation of jobs.”

In addition, Ron annually participates in Mihaylo College’s Professor for a Day program. “I want to share my experiences with the students. I help them look 20 or 30 years down the road so they can make the right decisions.”
