Detras de Las Cortinas

McGee: “Detras de las Cortinas" is a group exhibition and, of course, detras means behind and las cortinas means the curtain, or the curtains, and so that’s the title of this exhibition. One of our ideas with this is that there’s a kind of derogatory term in Southern California about the Orange curtain, and so, we are doing an exhibition of artists behind the orange curtain, and specifically a group of Latino artists who are in Orange County and have been in Orange County in different ways and for different periods of time. Some of them have been here all their lives. Others have been to university here, but all of them have had a profound experience her in Orange County and it has influenced their work in different ways. I think all of these artists are documenting aspects of what it means to be Latino in Orange County.
