University Honors Faculty and
Staff Retirees

On behalf of Cal State Fullerton, President
Milton A. Gordon hosted faculty and staff members during a special
May 11 retirement dinner at El Dorado Ranch. The university’s
executive management also was on hand to honor those whose service
to Fullerton ranged from six to 39 years.
Among those honored were Ramon Escoto,
a tree trimmer who served the university for 39 years; and Jo
E. Adkins, administrative assistant in the Center for Internships
and Cooperative Education, J. Michael Russell,
professor of philosophy and human services, and Sandra Sutphen,
professor of political science; all 37-year veterans. Robert
Belloli, professor of chemistry and biochemistry, Lynne
McVeigh, assistant dean of student affairs at El Toro Campus,
and Nelson Woodard, associate professor of history,
have all given 36 years of service.
Honored for service since 1969 were Susan
Harmston, library assistant, and Ronald Rietveld,
professor of history. David Perkins, professor
of psychology, and Judy Suchey, professor of anthropology,
have been members of the campus community for 34 years. Acknowledged
for 32 years of service were: Craig Ihara, professor
of philosophy, Norman Page, professor of human
communication studies, Stephen Simon, lecturer
in philosophy, and Stanley Woll, professor of psychology.
For their 31 years of service, the university recognized
P. Chris Cozby, professor of psychology, James
Friel, professor of mathematics, Paulette Landers,
library assistant, Marta Magdalena, confidential
assistant to the vice president for administration, Eric
Solberg, professor of economics, and Edna Stevens,
custodian. Mei Bickner, professor of management,
J. Vincent Buck, professor of political science,
and Timothy Lancey, professor of mechanical engineering,
were feted for 30 years on campus.
Also honored were: Pat Ames, Academic
Affairs; Carol Barnes, Elementary and Bilingual
Education; Madeline Bathhurst, Psychology; Lupe
Beltran, Physical Plant; Carlos Bragg,
Student Financial Services; Martin Carbone, Administration;
Sally Cardenas, Center for Internships and Cooperative
Education; John Carter, Art; Antonia Chambers,
Reading; Rosemary Chiaferi, Human Services; Karon
Cornell, Community Relations; Terry Dauber,
Fullerton Arboretum; Anne Dunkin-Willis, Theatre
and Dance; Yvonne Felix, Science Education; Margarita
Garcia, Luther Hamby, Peggy Hein and Kathy Ip, all Business
and Financial Affairs; and Leeann Hansen, Liberal
Studies.
Recognition was given to: Evelyn Lawrence,
Academic Affairs; Rita Magellanes and Kathryn McKnight,
both University Extended Education; Inez Martinez, Grace
Navarro and Robert Osgood, all Physical Plant; Cynthia
Merow, Pollak Library; John Merow, Chemistry
and Biochemistry; Melinda Niekum and Anne S. Nuttall,
both Music; Susan Pike, Elementary, Bilingual Education
and Reading; Michele Powell, Career Planning and
Placement; David Reid, Public Affairs; and Marilyn
Rhode, Art.
Also honored were: Grace Sawicki and Nancy
Sorensen, both English, Comparative Literature and Linguistics;
Billie Simmons-Reed and Elianne Yuen, both Admissions
and Records; LuAnn Slayton, Elementary and Bilingual
Education; Carolyn Sly, Intensive Learning Experience;
Sherry Stevens, Counseling and Psychological Services;
Vincent Suez, Art; Barbara Sweet,
Graduate Studies; Darlene Trostad, American Studies;
