Titan Basketball Coach Bob Burton Named Coach of the Year

Cal State Fullerton men's basketball coach Bob Burton was selected the District 15 Coach of the Year by the National Association of Basketball Coaches on March 10.

District 15 includes 18 schools in the Southwest U.S. — UCLA, USC, Arizona, Arizona State, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly SLO, Cal State Northridge, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, UNLV, New Mexico State and Pepperdine, Sacramento State and Univ. of San Diego and Fullerton.

The Titans, this year's Big West Champions — the first title for Fullerton since a co-championship in 1976 — have matched school records for most regular-season wins (21-8) and best conference record (12-4).

Burton is in his fifth year and is the winningest coach in Fullerton history at .602 (89-59). The Titans have posted four consecutive seasons for the first time since 1981-85.
