Cal State Fullerton 48th Commencement Ceremonies, May 19-20, 2007
Commencement Stories: 2007
More than 9,500 graduates and candidates — a record number for Cal
State Fullerton — took part in the annual rite of passage on campus.
Overwhelming crowds of happy parents, siblings and other family members and
friends watched the two-day celebration on the athletic field north of the
Kinesiology and Health Science Building.
Keynote
speakers Robert David Hall, who plays coroner Albert Robbins on the CBS television
drama “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” and Lucy Jones, scientist-in-charge
for the U.S. Geological Survey, offered words of wisdom and encouragement to
the graduates.
Also offering
words to live by was CSUF alumnus and successful entrepreneur Dan Black, who
received an honorary doctorate from the California State University and CSUF. Black,
whose name graces Dan Black Hall, was recognized for his entrepreneurial spirit
and contributions to business, community and the university.
Family and
friends and faculty members were honored for their support and contributions
to the graduates’ success. Audience members then waved balloons and banners
and cheered as President Milton A. Gordon conferred degrees.
The celebrations
continued as individual school and department ceremonies were held throughout
campus.
