October 6, 2004 :: No. 49

What: What are the growth prospects and emerging economic issues for Orange County? Answers to these and other questions will be discussed Tuesday, Oct. 26, at the 2005 Economic Forecast Conference presented by Cal State Fullerton’s College of Business and Economics and the Orange County Business Council.
When: 7-10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26
Where: Hyatt Regency Irvine, 17900 Jamboree Road, Irvine
Speaker: Anil K. Puri, dean of Cal State Fullerton’s College of Business and Economics and co-director of the university’s Institute for Economic and Environmental Studies, has presented the annual forecast since its inception in 1992. Puri is executive vice president of the Western Economic Association International and a panel member for the National Association of Business Economists’ Survey of Economic Conditions.
Additional: In addition to the forecast presentation, Puri will participate in a panel discussion with Paul Folino, chair and CEO of Emulex, and Larry Ainsworth, president and CEO of St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, about the outlook for their industries.
Quote: “This is a time of particular uncertainty, not only because of the upcoming national election and the different policy positions of the two candidates, but also because of the geopolitical situation,” said Puri regarding the importance of the forecast for regional businesses.
