Mark Wei, Taiwan’s commissioner of insurance,
visits Cal State Fullerton April 21, when he will confer with
business faculty members and deliver a classroom lecture. He
also will meet with officials from several Southern California
insurance companies. |

Who: |
Wei, commissioner of insurance in Taiwan’s
Ministry of Finance since 2002, is responsible for ensuring,
regulating and supervising the solvency of Taiwan’s 52
insurance companies, as well as protecting and stabilizing the
government’s pension and annuity insurance programs. He
is director of the Motor Vehicle Accident Compensation Fund
and executive director of Chaio Tung Bank. He travels to Southern
California as an Eisenhower Fellow. |

Wei will tour the campus, hear an overview
of the College of Business and Economics’ developing
insurance program, and make a presentation before students
on “The Insurance Regulatory System and Insurance Market
in Taiwan.”
Following his lecture, Wei will meet off campus with Gabriel
Tirado, president of Mercury Insurance Group and chair of
the CSUF Center for Insurance Studies Board of Directors;
Kahn Tran, chief financial officer, and Robert Hsu, senior
vice president of Pacific Life Insurance; Changhong Zhu, executive
vice president, PIMCO; Brian Baker, head of PIMCO Singapore;
Lisa Chen, vice president of Aon Global; and Bernard Fung,
chair and CEO of Aon Asia. |
