Business Leaders Explore “Heir Conditioning” During March Workshop

What: Family business leaders want to know: Are their children and grandchildren adequately prepared to handle funds they will receive as an inheritance, gift, bonus or salary? What is the impact of inherited versus earned wealth? Practical insights on how to raise, educate, encourage and engage “heir-worthy” children and grandchildren is the subject of a March 23 Cal State Fullerton College of Business and Economics’ Family Business Council workshop.
   
When: 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 23
   
Speaker: Peggy Eddy, co-founder of the University of San Diego Family Business Forum and president of Creative Capital Management Inc., will lead the interactive program.
   
Where: Ayres Country Inn & Suites, 325 Bristol St., Costa Mesa
   
Additional: The Family Business Council, established in 1994, is a partnership between the business community and Cal State Fullerton. Its mission is to enhance the well-being and survivability of Southern California family businesses by providing opportunities for education, interaction and information tailored to the needs and concerns of family businesses.
   
Upcoming: The council hosts monthly workshops on a wide range of topics. Upcoming sessions will address using outside advisers and boards (April) and outsourcing (May).
   
Cost: Free to first-time family business attendees. Reservations are required and can be made by calling Robbin Bretzing at 657-278-4182.
