Noted Primatologist to Speak on Ape Cognition

Noted Primatologist to Speak on Ape Cognition: Cal State Fullerton’s Anthropology Department and the Primatology Students Association are sponsoring a lecture Thursday, Feb. 19, with Volker Sommer, professor of evolutionary anthropology at University College London. Sommer’s address on “Mind-Less Apes or Ape-Like Minds: What Can We Know About Primate Cognition?” will review ape mental abilities and primate research focusing on flexible social systems, cooperation and competition, and tool use. The lecture begins at 4:30 p.m. in Room 199 of the Kinesiology and Health Sciences Building. Admission is free and open to the public. Media contact: Elizabeth Martin, Public Affairs, 657-278-3798.
