Cal State Fullerton Hosts Events
for African American Heritage Month

What: Music, art, film, information fairs and speeches will take center stage during Cal State Fullerton’s observance of African American Heritage Month.
   
Where: Various locations on campus.
   
Schedule: The following activities are scheduled and open to the public:

Feb. 4
" African American Legacy Series: “Legacy of Religion and Spirituality,” presented by Stan Breckenridge, Afro-ethnic studies lecturer, at noon in the Titan Student Union’s Tuffree Room

Feb. 7
“GospelFest 2004” in the Titan Student Union’s Titan Theatre at 1:30 and 5:30 p.m. For tickets to this event, call 657-278-5243.

Feb. 11
“Three Strikes Law and How It Affects Women of Color,” presented by Barbara Ellis, former chair of Families to Amend California’s Three-Strikes, at noon in University Hall, Room 205

African American Legacy Series:
Ernest Bridges, lecturer in Afro-ethnic studies, will speak at noon in the Titan Student Union’s Tuffree Room.

Black Movie Night at 7 p.m. in the Titan Student Union’s Hetebrink Room

Feb. 17-18
The Phenomenal Women Program will hold a bake sale from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Quad.

Feb. 18
African American Art Exhibit featuring multimedia artists Reginald Webster and Karien Zachery from noon-7 p.m. in Titan Student Union’s Titan Pavilion

African American Legacy Series: Film screening of Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, at noon in the Titan Student Union’s Tuffree Room

Domino and Cards Night from 7-10 p.m. in the Titan Student Union’s Hetebrink Room

Feb. 20
Cardio Health Day on the Titan Walkway from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Feb. 23
“Alliance for the Preservation of African Consciousness Presents,” featuring student speakers and poetry readings, at noon in the Quad

Feb. 25
“Respect Yourself, Protect Yourself: Understanding and Preventing HIV and AIDS” presented by Kay Womack, an evangelist from Orange, at noon in University Hall, Room 205

African American Legacy Series: Julie Stokes, associate professor of Afro-ethnic studies, will speak at noon in the Titan Student Union’s Tuffree Room.

“Black Love Dialogue,” a discussion on dating inside and outside of the African American community, at 7 p.m. in the Titan Student Union’s Hetebrink Room

Feb. 27
“Showtime @ the Apollo” talent show at 5 p.m. in the Titan Student Union’s Titan Theatre

Feb. 28
Live music concert from 4-10 p.m. in the Titan Student Union’s Titan Pavilion
   
Sponsors: The events scheduled are coordinated by the African-American Faculty/Staff Association, the Afro-Ethnic Studies Community Ensemble, the Afro-Ethnic Studies Department, Alpha Kappa Alpha, the Alliance for the Preservation of African Consciousness, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Furnishing Information and Relaying Encouragement, the Multicultural Leadership Center, Resident Student Association, Sistertalk and the Women of Color Resource Center, as well as the Association for Inter-Cultural Awareness.
