Farouk Abdelwahed of the Management Department
at California State University, Fullerton, will be honored as
Manager of the Year by the Orange County chapter of the Society
for the Advancement of Management (SAM), the oldest executive
organization in the nation. The Brea resident also is slated
to be recognized with a state Assembly citation from Assemblyman
Lou Correa (D-Anaheim) and a state Senate citation from Sen.
Richard Ackerman (R-Tustin). |

Background: |
Abdelwahed, a member of the Cal State Fullerton
faculty since 1973, joins a distinguished group of Orange
County leaders who have been recognized with the society’s
annual award, including Cal State Fullerton President Milton
A. Gordon and Stan Oftelie, president and CEO of the Orange
County Business Council.
In addition to teaching strategic and emerging issues in
management, Abdelwahed chaired the university’s Management
Department for seven years and currently heads the board of
the Islamic Institute of Orange County. Under his direction,
student teams have competed in state and national competitions,
taking top honors for negotiation, discussion and impromptu
speaking, as well as small business consulting. Abdelwahed,
who earned his doctorate at UCLA, serves as adviser to the
student chapter of SAM and directs the honors program for
the College of Business and Economics. |
