Photographs by
Nick Ut from the Vietnam War (left and right groupings)
Nick Ut won a Pulitzer Prize for his documentation
of the Vietnam War, specifically his famous photograph of
a naked girl, Phan Thi Kim Phuc, running away from a napalm
attack. Today Kim Phuc is a Goodwill Ambassador for the United
Nations and a peace activist. She is pictured in the center
color image above with her child. Other images describe the
exodus of Vietnamese refugees. In 1954, Vietnamese citizens
had 300 days to evacuate from North to South Vietnam. They
were assisted by the French government and the Allied Americans
to move to the Republic of South Vietnam by ships and airplanes.
Many of the refugees from North Vietnam resettled in Central
Vietnam.
Pictured center, is a photograph of a statue
at Freedom Park, in the city of Westminster, honoring Americans
and Vietnamese soldiers for their mutual support during Vietnam
War.
