Who:
Cal State Fullerton marine ecologist Danielle Zacherl, associate professor of biological science, will discuss her research into the dynamics and population structure of the Olympia oyster, the only oyster native to the West Coast. Since the early 1900s, the oyster has experienced significant population declines due to over-harvesting and habitat destruction. Zacherl will discuss how oysters contribute to healthy ecosystems and clean water, and share how she and her student team are working to restore oyster beds in Newport Beach.
