CSUF Hosts May 24 Symposium on Prevention

What:
“Obesity Prevention Through the Life Span: Reflections of the Past and Visions for the Future” is the title of a May 24 symposium hosted by Cal State Fullerton’s College of Health and Human Development. The event is free and open to the public.

Why:
Event organizers Shari G. McMahan, dean of the College of Health and Human Development, and Jie Weiss, associate professor of health science, said the symposium aims to:
- disseminate results obtained from a variety of funded obesity prevention and intervention projects;
- share lessons learned regarding collecting data on eating behaviors and physical activities in the community; and
- increase obesity prevention and intervention collaborations between faculty members and students and between the university and communities.
Additional:
From 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., CSUF professors, graduate students and health care experts will make presentations on obesity-related research projects, nutrition programs and related campaigns. At 1 p.m., HBO’s “Weight of the Nation” will be screened, followed by a panel discussion. The full schedule is available for download.
