Why:
“Actuary is a very sophisticated, but quite applicable, quantitative area in the risk management and insurance fields. This is the perfect time to review where the field is going and where the opportunities are,” said Weili Lu, professor of finance and director of the Center for Insurance Studies. “The Center for Insurance Studies is happy to be able to offer programs that help the community-at-large, as well as our students, who will soon be in the workplace.”
Background:
Cal State Fullerton’s actuary program is a joint venture of the Center for Insurance Studies and university’s Mathematics Department. It was established eight years ago with the strong support from actuary professionals and insurance companies, including Mercury and Pacific Life.
The Center for Insurance Studies was established to attract and educate talented individuals committed to professional careers in the insurance and financial services industry. For more information about the center, visit the center website.
