More:
The goal of the Bridges to Stem Cell Research Symposium is increasing discussion among students, faculty and community members interested in stem cell research. The symposium also marks the Bridges students’ transition from stem cell science training to full-time internships that begin in 2011. Each presenter has taken a Bridges to Stem Cell Research student as an intern. The symposium is funded as part of the $1.28 million, three-year California Institute for Regenerative Medicine grant awarded in 2009 to Nilay Patel, assistant professor of biological science.
Speakers:
Children’s Hospital of Orange County — Philip Schwartz, director of the National Human Neural Stem Cell Resource
UC Irvine — Matthew Blurton-Jones, assistant researcher in neurobiology and behavior; Charles Limoli, associate professor of radiation oncology at the Cancer Research Institute; and Brian J. Cummings, associate professor of anatomy and neurobiology at the UCI School of Medicine
USC — Gage Crump, assistant professor of cell and neurobiology; Alan Epstein, professor of pathology at the USC Keck School of Medicine; and Qi-Long Ying, assistant professor of stem cell and regenerative medicine
