Feb. 10 — “What’s Love
Got to Do With It?” discussion at 7 p.m. in the
Titan Student Union’s Alvarado Room
Feb. 15-March 31 — “Windows
to the Soul — The Many Faces of African Women”
photo exhibit by Alfred O. Fayemi in the Pollak Library.
A presentation by the artist and reception will be held
from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, in Room 250 of University
Hall.
Feb. 16 — “Finding Your
Purpose When the Dots Are Not All in a Row” by
Marilyn White, founder and editor of the online magazine
Precious Times, at noon in Room 205 of University Hall
Feb. 16 — “Mentoring Peer
to Peer: Creating a Supportive Network” by Rochelle
Woods, assistant dean of student services, CSUF College
of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, at noon in Room
222 of the Humanities-Social Sciences Building
Feb. 23 — “Mentoring:
The Road to Faculty Development” by Wacira Gethaiga,
chair and professor of Afro-ethnic studies, at noon
in Room 222 of the Humanities-Social Sciences Building
Feb. 23 — “Jamboree of
Black Voices” featuring speakers, poetry and dance,
6-8 p.m. in the Titan Student Union’s Portola
Pavilion
Feb. 26 — Gospel Fest 2005,
a celebration of African American history through song,
2-6 p.m. in the Titan Student Union’s Portola
Pavilion
Feb. 28 — Grand opening of the
African American Resource Center, noon-2 p.m. Festivities
begin outside the Humanities-Social Sciences Building,
followed by tours of the center — Room 222. The
center will serve as a meeting place, as well as a learning
center and resource repository. “We will offer
academic and cultural programs and services that will
complement the university’s efforts for sense
of community,” said Julie Stokes, associate professor
of Afro-ethnic studies and center director. Center hours
are Monday-Thursday, noon-8 p.m.
