Linking Art and the Female Spirit

Warfield’s entries for the exhibit inspire a “healthy body, healthy mind and healthy spirit” — the theme of the exhibit.

“My art shows the importance of maintaining a healthy body — the body is a natural vessel that maintains and creates life,” she said.

Her creations on exhibit are: “Serenity,” representative of the healthy female spirit; “Koi-Zen,” which symbolizes the healthy and peaceful mind; and “The Greatest Gift” series, a homage to the healthy and expectant female body.

The Fullerton resident also is a photographer and plans on a career that combines the two art mediums.

How does your work tie in with the exhibit’s theme?

My art celebrates the health of the female spirit and the beauty of the fruitful female body. I hope that my art will be healing to the self-esteem of women and promote the appreciation for women by others.

Why, in your opinion, is art good for the soul?

Because it is an outlet for self-expression. It can be rewarding to create your own as well as view the artwork of others.

What do you hope others experience in viewing your art?

I hope that people will feel more relaxed when viewing my art and further appreciate the beauty of the female form.

“Art 4 Health” opening reception and art auction will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. and is free and open to the public. For more information, visit http://www.fullerton.edu/shcc/Art4Health/index.htm; e-mail, art4health@fullerton.edu or call 657-278-3946.
