Economics teachers and researchers from throughout
the Southland are invited to attend the Oct. 21-23 West Coast
Conference on Teaching Economics sponsored by Cal State Fullerton’s
Economics Department and Center for Economics Education and
McGraw Hill/Irwin Publishers. More than 50 presenters will deliver
papers on such topics as teaching techniques, measuring teaching
effectiveness, promoting active learning and research on economic
education. |

Keynote Speakers: |
Bradley R. Schiller, author
of “The Economics of Poverty and Discrimination”
and “The Economy Today” and professor of economics
at American University, will discuss “The Cost of Terror:
Past and Continuing Responses to Terrorism.” Robert
H. Frank, professor of economics at Cornell University
and author of “Microeconomics and Behavior,” will
speak on “Teaching Introductory Students to Speak Economics.” |

Registration: |
Conference registration fee is $200 prior to
Sept. 1, $225 after Sept. 1. Registration is limited to 125
participants. Registration fee covers all conference materials,
Friday lunch, dinner and all refreshments at conference breaks.

Background: |
The program was developed by Chiara Gratton-Lavoie,
director of the university’s Center for Economic Education.
As part of the College of Business and Economics, the center’s
purpose is to provide economic education services to improve
economic understanding in grades K-12, institutions of higher
learning and the surrounding community. In addition to stock
market simulations offered to middle and high schools, the center
offers consultation and workshops. |
