Cal State Fullerton kicks off Engineering and
Computer Science Week Feb. 23-26 with a slate of activities
designed to foster student participation in clubs, promote career
planning, and welcome prospective engineers and computer enthusiasts
from local high schools. The event is held annually in conjunction
with National Engineers Week and Engineering and Computer Science
Week. |

Most activities are scheduled for the Engineering
and Computer Science Quad. |

|
Feb. 23 |
Graduates of the College of Engineering and Computer
Science will meet with students and faculty members during an
Alumni Mentor Luncheon at the Golleher Alumni House. Students
will have the opportunity for networking, obtaining advice about
their majors and directions in their careers. Alumni from SBC,
the U.S. Navy, Boeing, BV Engineering, Engineering Resources
of Southern California, Delphi Engineering and Parasoft are
slated to attend. |

Feb. 24 |
Student engineering clubs will be recruiting
new members with various activities and displays during Discover
Engineering and Computer Science Day from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. During
the event, students will compete in a 3-on-3 basketball tournament,
while others display their projects. |

Feb. 25 |
Approximately 350 students from six local high
schools will be on campus for a MESA (Mathematics, Engineering,
Science Achievement) competition. High school students will
be testing balsa wood bridges, flying gliders, competing in
a Web page design contest, making technical presentations and
displaying homegrown crystals. |

Feb. 26 |
Approximately 20 companies will be recruiting
at a Career Fair from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Students will have the
opportunity to visit with company representatives and learn
about employment opportunities and internships in engineering
and computer science fields. |

Displays: |
Engineering and computer science projects will
be on display at the Pollak Library through mid-March. Highlights
include a concrete canoe, human-powered vehicle, impromptu design
vehicles and computer science projects. |
