Rochel Gelman, professor of psychology and co-director
of the Rutgers Center for Cognitive Science, will speak on “The
Upside and the Downside of the Mind of the Learner.” Campus
faculty members with expertise in the fields of assessment,
learning and teaching will conduct discussion sessions following
the keynote address. |

“The symposium will explore the principles
of cognitive psychology, the empirical branch of psychology
that deals with questions of how people think, learn and remember,”
said David Fromson, CSUF professor of biological science and
associate dean of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
“We will explore learning theories with the aim of enhancing
our teaching to facilitate improved student learning.” |

The event is open to the public free of charge.
