Hans Printz of Vienna, a master of illustrative art in the early 20th century, worked with a variety of media in classical and modern styles, and was best known for his illustrations of Shakespeare, World War I soldiers and other military events. He left a large body of original and published book and magazine works to the Fluck family, which has loaned Printz’s works to the exhibit.

Recent Titan graduate and Ecuador native Eduardo Villacís’ (M.F.A. art ’04) art encompasses the fields of paining, comics, illustration and 3D animation. Formerly an artist-in-residence at Grand Central Art Center and currently a member of the faculty at the University of Ecuador, Villacís is presenting his graphic novel “The Smoking Mirror,” of which he says, “In this project, I play with an inverse world history where the Aztecs conquer Europe and reduce the light-skinned natives to slavery. However, I do not know if this alternative would have been any better or fundamentally different.”

 California native Ben Reynoso, also a CSUF alumnus (B.A. art ’93, M.A. art ’04), is presenting the art that is featured in his recently completed children’s book, “The Basilisk’s Crest: A Mayan Legend.”
