A Gran Day: Celebrations Marks Mihaylo Hall Grand Opening

Steven G. Mihaylo Hall – the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics’
new $88-million home – opened with great fanfare on October 17, 2008. An address by California Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner highlighted the day’s events, which included receptions, ribbon cuttings and a time capsule.

The time capsule is buried in the courtyard.

President Milton A. Gordon, Steven G. Mihaylo ’69 (B.A. business administration) and Dean Anil Puri cut the ceremonial ribbon opening Mihaylo Hall.

Mihaylo is applauded in one of the new classrooms.

A wall commemorates major donors to the campaign for the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics, a campaign launched six years ago with Paul Folino’s $1-million gift, that has now surpassed $50 million.

Dean Puri welcomes guests to the morning’s events. Joining him on the podium are: President Gordon; Mihaylo; Michael Smith, director of design and construction; Paddy Gough ’80 (B.A history),
president of the Cal State Fullerton Alumni Association; Scott Hewitt, president of the Academic Senate; and Curtis Schlaufman, Associated Students, CSUF, Inc. president.

James D. Woods ’67 (B.A. business administration) and his wife, Jeanette, pose in the foyer that bears his name.

MIhaylo is commended for his career accomplishments and gifts to the college.

Dean Puri and President Gordon present Mihaylo with his statue, which sits in the courtyard.
