University Ranks Sixth For Number of Minority Degrees Awarded

Cal State Fullerton is sixth in the nation for the number of bachelor’s degrees awarded to minority students, as reported in the June 3 issue of Black Issues in Higher Education.

Fullerton remains the highest ranked overall among California State University campuses in the annual “Top 100 Degree Producers” report on the number of undergraduate degrees awarded to minorities. Last year, the campus placed fourth nationally and first within the CSU.

In addition to the overall standing, the campus is recognized as sixth in the nation for awarding undergraduate degrees to Hispanics and 12th for undergraduate degrees awarded to Asian-Americans.

Listed by undergraduate academic programs, CSUF also ranks:

• second nationally for awarding bachelor’s degrees in business to Asian-Americans, fourth for business degrees to all minorities combined and sixth for business degrees awarded to Hispanics;
• third in education degrees awarded to Asian-Americans, and seventh for Hispanics and all minorities combined;
• fifth in awarding degrees in ethnic studies to Hispanics; and
• sixth for mathematics degrees awarded to Hispanics.
All the rankings are based on 2002-03 data submitted by institutions of higher education to the U.S. Department of Education.
