Associate Vice President,
University Communications and Marketing
Appointed at Cal State Fullerton

Bruce Erickson has been appointed associate vice president for university communications and marketing at Cal State Fullerton. He will be responsible for creating and implementing the university’s strategic marketing and communication plans.

Prior to joining the staff at Fullerton, he served as executive director for marketing and communications at Wichita State University for six years. He also served for five years as director of public relations at Cal State Northridge and as director of university relations at University of Texas, Pan American.

“Bruce has a strong record of success in communications, and I am pleased that he has returned to California,” said Judith Anderson, executive vice president at Cal State Fullerton. “He will help increase awareness of the importance of Cal State Fullerton’s programs and priorities that are so critical for our region’s continued development.”

“For public institutions like Cal State Fullerton, effective public communication has never been more important — especially given the new fiscal realities,” said Erickson. “Fullerton has a number of milestone projects and activities coming up in the next few years, such as the opening of its new Performing Arts Center, the growth of the its College of Business and Economics and establishing its presence at El Toro. I’m looking forward to working with others, on and off campus, to increase public outreach.”

Erickson holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism from the University of Kansas and served in the Peace Corps during the 1970s. He was selected for the post following a national search chaired by Irene Lange, chair and professor of marketing.
