State colleges: Utah Valley woman start 2-0 on season

OREM - Julie McMurry scored 23 points and Robyn Fairbanks and Sandy Marvin scored 18 each to lead Utah Valley State College over Cal State Fullerton 89-69 in women's basketball at The McKay Center.


The win improves UVSC to 2-0 on the season, while Cal State Fullerton was playing its first game.
In addition to her 18 points, Fairbanks also grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds. Asumi Nakayama added 10 assists for the Wolverines.

No. 3 Midland (Texas) 66, SLCC 44: The Bruins (1-2) kept the game close for a half before succumbing to the No. 3-ranked women's JC team in the country at Midland, Texas.
The Chaparrals also controlled the boards, edging the Bruins 57-47. Michelle Pace was the leading scorer for Salt Lake with 12 points.
